Introducing...
Every month, we introduce one of the Kingston Wheelers. March 2005's candidate is new member James Smith. Currently, James is probably the club's newest member and hasn't wasted any time in getting stuck in as he's already been out once on the club run and then started racing in the Redhill CC event on 27 February where he clocked a respectable time for a beginner, made all the more impressive by the fact that he was on a mountain bike.

Name: James Smith
Age: 32
Significant Others: Twin brother, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be able to ride (me arms aren't long enough to stretch). See picture above.
What made you start cycling? Liked the outdoors, adrenalin rush from charging down hillsides at high speed and the pain of going up them!!
Why did you join Kingston Wheelers? I was advised by the BCF to join a club, recently moved to the area, liked the look of your website and the friendly emails from you.
Date you joined the Club: February 2005
Who is your favourite pro or inspiration? Darren Kenny, he inspired me to put skinny tyres on my mountain bike.
What bike do you ride? Cannondale tandem and a Cannondale F600.
Give us a brief cycling background: I started riding, As soon as I was old enough to earn money to buy a mountain bike. There was no looking back, spent most of my time on my bike chasing my brother which is always good fun :-)
What was your best performance? Doing The London to Brighton Bike Ride in under two and a half hours.
What was your worst day on the bike? Cycling for eight hours and only managing to travel 30 miles, massive head wind and ended up sleeping under a bush.
What is your favourite race food? Pasta and Soreen loaf.
Where is your favourite cycling location? Coed y Brenin (It's the mountain biker in me).
Most likely to say: "Don't be daft."
Least likely to say: "I can't."
