I was riding the bike leg for a mixed relay team from my company on Friday and there was someone else there with a KW skinsuit and bling Specialized TT bike - was that you?
I saw you enter transition just before me, but lost sight after that. One of my workmates said they thought you were doing the same event, if so how did you get on. Apparently my bike split was 32:40 which is Ok for me. _________________ Tim Lawn |

I was there winning the men's relay again (but only with a 33:02 and company kit on) only person I saw in club kit must have been you Tim? Black Colnago with Aero bars, I've seen the same person for the past 3 years but never figured who from the club it is!

I did the Steelman Relay on the sunday, and the weather was awful, headwind the whole way around... Lost 10 minutes to some Dynamo, but I managed to beat a depressing number of guys on nice TT bikes, made me even more want to get all the nice aero bling to start knocking some time off. I was hoping for 1:03 or so, but only managed 1:10.
We were second relay, but that was more due to a fast Maryka Swim, and a strong run from our runner, got thrashed by the team that had the Dynamo's in. |

| There was a Dynorod in my wave on Friday but never saw him, I spent all my time focussed on beating some flash ejit on £5k's worth of cervelo and full matching Assos kit. |

So George I guess you got a hold of some other aero bars then? Or did you thrash him without?
I haven't done an Anglo triathlon in a while, I had forgotten how many big fat unfit folks buy £££/$$$ worth of bike and kit and then simply ride on the pursuit bars the whole time... or set the stem pointing upwards... or ride so slowly the Zipp 1080s do nothing for them.
Germany, Holland and other Euro races... scary fit people with many of the best riders on pretty normal-looking bikes. Irorman Germany yesterday had 20 age grouper men go sub 9-hours and 11 women go sub-10:15 .
The British pros are definitely super fast, but the average age grouper in USA/Canada/Britain is way more concerned about having a bling bike than about putting down a bling time. Why is that I wonder? _________________ Twittering

George - it was me on the Colnago with clip ons and has been the last 3 years. We've had a different (female) swimmer each year and came 3rd in the first year but with a much smaller field than this year. All in all a good day out and a bit of company bonding.
There was definitely another KW as I described there as this was verified by some workmates in another team, so still a mystery.
Didn't see any Dynorods but got caught twice during my ride, both times by riders in club kit on low pros etc. Guy that caught me on the first lap was too hot and had to let him disappear up the road, but had a bit of a tussle with the one that caught me with one lap to go and got him back coming into transition.
Don't know if it's me but I always find riding round that lake really hard, guaranteed windy and slow. Worked out what my 20km time would be for 16km (10mi) and it was depressingly slow. _________________ Tim Lawn |

Wind is a killer on the leg up the lake, I failed to get my arse in gear to get myself clip ons so just went with lowering my bars. My 10mile time would be nr 26 but I think the corners kill a fair bit compared to a normal TT circuit.
I've now have hapily worked out our swimmer came out the water 18th and I came back in 4th but I don't remember passing 14 quick looking people, only a lot of people on argos £100 specials or bikes shiny expensive road bikes with poor sadle heights, so proving they'd all just run out and bought them. |

I have to try and row on that lake! It's more exposed to the wind on the water than on the bank. |
