Just looking at a BTTC entry (though I'm not allowed to win Wink) and reading through some of the UCI regs for bars, 3:1 ratio, etc.

So given that I remembered this from Adam in another thread:

Jim, looks pretty good, the only thing that might be worth trying is bringing your hands up (current position is bordering on 'illegal'). This can give you more leverage to pull against the bars. Low hands were all the rage a few years ago, but i don't see so many people doing this any more. the "preying mantis" is the current vogue!!

I was a bit surprised to see this:

Not the easiest diagram to decipher but it looks like flat bars are allowed and something like the Profile AirStryke (with long turned-up extensions) are not. I use S-bends so no issue for me.

More importantly, I am allowed to ask for dispensation, which I will! Even with the ISM Adamo saddle, I don't know if I'll be able to get the nose of it 5cm behind the BB. Wonder if the disc cover is illegal though?

Steve are you planning to try for an entry?

UCI rules don't apply to CTT events, only those run under the BC flag, including the national champs. It's potentially a lot of hassle for one event and I think, yes, the disc cover, is banned for BC/UCI races.

As for the win, check whether it's for British nationals, residents or even licence holders Wink

I'm eligible having lived here for 2 years.

BTTC is being run under UCI, that's why I checked the regs vs. CTT.

Bummer about the disc cover! Ah well.

I was thinking of entering, but if I did it would be in a Masters age group, where UCI rules don't apply.

UCI......Mental image of fat old reactionary euro boys club, with large tumblers of whisky making up rules as they go.
Oh look, there's systematic doping in the peloton....Nope, if I cover my ears and hum it'll go away....Wait, look, those riders have their saddles too far forward....Let's get to work!

Is it a 650c wheel or a normal size wheel you are planning to use - can lend you a 700c disc - shimano, clincher.

Well position is something you can measure with a ruler and do something about pretty quickly Wink

Yes the rules are odd but I think they suit Maryka as smaller riders have a lot more leeway.

Two more thoughts:
- I'd ask BC about it all, they might not be measuring bikes to the nearest millimetre. After all when was the last time one of us had our road bike weighed to ensure it's above the 6.8kg limit?
Also disc covers were banned but it's worth checking, I don't for sure if it's the case today.

I remembered this story about UCI bringing in the 3:1 rule and Oval Components pretty much going bust overnight since a lot of their range was over 3:1

I'll go with my 650c wheel, but thanks for the offer. The Hed Jet60 isn't a bad rear wheel aero-wise, just not as good as a disc of course! But I won't be in the running to win it, so...

Not having a disc means motivation to work on my cockpit position a bit more to try and gain some more aero-ness. Very Happy
