As you will be aware the club will be staging the John Bornhoft Memorial Hill Climb at 11.00am on Saturday 29th September up the slopes of Leith Hill. This race is popular with both competitors and spectators alike and a great opportunity for the club to put something back into the local racing scene.

For those new to cycling, the UK road and TT racing side is a collaborative effort in that all the races are staged by clubs volunteering – there are no events put on by federations or companies such as in triathlons or sportives, so without clubs such as us staging the events there will be no races.

To stage any race a number of volunteers are needed to fulfill roles without which the race cannot take place. For this event we need people to marshal the course, help at the start and finish and help run the HQ and refreshments side during the event and help clear up afterwards, in total about a dozen or so people are needed.

So if you've raced in Wheelers colours, attended any of the club events (track weekend, mtb training, road race training, BBQ’s etc) or enjoyed the club runs over the year please take this opportunity to help your club put something back into the sport.

If you are able to volunteer, please add your name to this thread.

There'll be a separate post asking for cakes nearer the time of the event.

thanks

Danny

I should have added that riding and assiting are pretty much mutualy exclusive, all the tasks, except helping to clear the hall up are ongoing before and throughout the race.

Given that riding and assisting are incompatible, helping looks like the perfect way to avoid having to compete Smile

Happy to do any job, but would prefer to be out on the course somewhere (do HCs need pushers-off?)
