Help with time-keeping what’s needed. Frank is willing to teach people how to do this in a short course. If you’ve been enjoying these events then please think about giving something back because these events are reliant on voluntary support. In return you’ll get full support from the club and knowledge that your efforts are keeping the series alive.

The course is painless and even held in a bar. There’s more on the forum.

Tickets are £5 for members and children over 12 or £7.95 for non-members. This is club-subsidised and includes entry and food. Under 12′s get to eat for free.

As usual it’s a big social occasion for the club so please bring friends and family. There’s a big screen to watch the Tour de France in the garden and there’s vegetarian food available if required.

The club needs to know the numbers by the start of July so please don’t wait until the last minute, otherwise you’ll miss out. Numbers are limited and places are on a first come , first served basis.

www.aerosportphotography.com who normally covers sports events but was in the area to photograph a property. Not only did Gavin get the photos but his son won the morning race.

Well done to all who helped on the day, the sport relies on participants doing their bit at least once a year so give yourself a big pat on the back. The club’s Rob Sharland gets another for his podium place in the 2/3 race.

This Sunday’s race is cancelled. New road works today have closed Ripley Lane and the course is impassable. The club has reviewed the alternative course but there are also new road works with traffic lights on this too. “We are very sad – after last year and with a record field” says organiser Nicola Wadham, “apologies and thanks to all who entered and volunteered their help.”

Druids Head pub – Kingston Market

The club’s annual general meeting is on Thursday 28 February in the Druid’s Head pub in 3 Market Place, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 1JT. All members are invited to attend.

Formal matters start at 8.00 pm so aim to arrive before. It’s your chance to see how the club is run and discuss this with fellow club members. Once the official business is done it’s also a good way to meet others in the club for a drink and a chat.

Some of you will remember that the club used to be sponsored by Sigma Sport. We’ve moved away from traditional sponsorship arrangements but have kept talking to the Sigma Sport. The club has already worked with Sigma Sport when we ran the Coaching Day last autumn, they supported the event by covering some of the costs, provided free PA and kindly arranged for Daniel Lloyd of the IG Sigma Sport professional team to take part.

We’ve got similar plans for 2013 when it comes to coaching days, riding skills sessions, mechanics courses for club members and more. None of this changes the club, it’s just our club linking up with a local bike shop to develop ways of working together.

It’s not a club event but this comes recommended. Local coach Chris Sellings is running a ladies only cycling coaching session looking at group riding technique at Kempton Park on 16 February from 1.00pm to 4.00pm for £10 each:

This would be a really good session for club riders that want to improve bike handling skills, group cornering, bunch skills & riding close to others including contact etc.  I’d encourage social & racing riders alike to come to this session – it should be lots of fun!
