Every month, we introduce some of the Kingston Wheelers and Ryan Peirce is here for September 2008. He has just joined the club. He comes from South Africa, enjoys his wine and will be racing in club colours soon.

What made you start cycling?To lose weight and stay fit whilst still enjoying lots of food and wine.
Why did you join Kingston Wheelers?Looked and sounded like a really good club and got quick and helpful replies when inquiring about the club.
Date you joined the Club: September 2008.
What bike do you ride? Was my first South African Road Race where I was able to come in third in my race it was one of those races where everything went well, legs felt strong, bike going well.
What made you start cycling? I did Triathlon for a few years and then found that I enjoyed cycling more and the results were better too.
Give us a brief cycling background: My cycling background is very patchy as I only raced for 2 years before I stopped. But during those two years I had some good results and some bad(due to over training on the hills) hopping to make my cycling background more successful here in the UK than it was in South Africa.
What was your best performance or ride?I’m not sure I have a best. Keeping up with everyone on Sundays will do!
What was your worst day on the bike? The day a crashed and wrote me and my bike off for a good few years.
Who is your favourite pro or inspiration? Lance Armstrong has been my inspiration for as long as I can remember that man is my Hero!
What is your favourite bike food? Well I am your typical pasta man before a race other than that a good breakfast and bananas.
Where is your favourite cycling location? Port Elizabeth, South Africa got the best open roads you can ask for and the scenery is just the best.
